The 20 Buck Spin Festival originated from the combined efforts of Scott Verrastro / Clavius Productions and I, Scott Nussman / Detournemont Productions. We wanted to focus a festival around local doom metal, stoner rock, and other out of town bands that we wanted to bring to Washington DC. This occured on Friday, October 22nd and Saturday, October 23rd in 2004, during a period when the DC doom scene was still in a state of revival. Attendance on the first night was not up to our expectations, and I was a little peeved that the festival posters that I had spraypainted and silkscreened (to help bring in money for the bands) were stolen. The festival took its name from a song from the legendary DC doom band, Pentagram. Attendance on the second night was better, and Scott and I agreed that we wanted to throw the festival again.
